THE STORY
Lacrimi și Sfinți is an atypical Romanian restaurant with a modern/contemporary cuisine. 100-year-old recipes are reinterpreted and repositioned, lost flavors, invented flavors, all in one place. Mircea Dinescu rediscovers and reinvents in the kitchen at Lacrimi și Sfinți more than just dishes and preparations, he rediscovers and reinvents a local culinary culture that has been almost lost or, at best, ignored for over a century. Every product on the menu is prepared only with local, organic ingredients: the fish is caught, the poultry is free-range, the pigs and calves come from small individual farms.
The decoration was made only with reclaimed wood. Every piece of wood is at least a few decades old. The kitchen windows come from an abandoned house in Perișorul commune, Dolj county, the kitchen door comes from the former dispensary in Cioroiași, Dolj county, the entrance door comes from a house in Sighișoara, the beams from an old barn, the cabinets from the Mureș area (each from a different house), over 50 chairs collected from all areas, the floor recovered from barn planks. The new objects are also made from reclaimed old wood. The Lego for the decorations comes from the Copenhagen Lego Store and approximately 16,000 pieces were used. All the dishes were created by various artists from: Vâlcea, Harghita, Sighișoara, Mediaș.
